Results of Employee RJC Gives

RJC Gives 2018 took place last week, and in just one week, we were able to work together to touch the lives of so many. We are proud of each and every employee who played a part in doing so.

Results of RJC Gives

We are proud to say that RJC Gives 2018 was a big success – topping many of our numbers from 2017!

In 2017, our employees collected over 600 canned goods and donated nearly $1,000 in goods to various local charities. According to Volunteering America, the current conversion rate for an hour of community service is $24.14. Throughout our week-long project, our employees completed 525 hours of community service, thus contributing over $12,000 to our local economy.

In 2018, we collected over 1,200 canned goods, donated 520 articles of clothing, and gave over $2,000 to Relay for Life, Ronald McDonald House, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Thompson Hood Veterans Center. Also, our employees donated enough blood at the blood drive to save up to 90 lives. Throughout the week, employees from over 10 departments completed around 440 hours of community service, and contributed over $10,600 to our local economy.

Our Charitable Contributions Committee has been making an impact in 2018 as well. Last year, the committee donated to 138 different organizations with 36% of those organizations involving R. J. Corman employees and family. We have already donated to more organizations in the first quarter of 2018 than in 2017!

Our Impact

RJC Gives week has provided us an opportunity to see how easy it can be to make a positive impact on the people around us. Not only was this week-long service event a great way to team build with employees both in and outside of our own departments, but it was also an amazing opportunity for our employees to build lasting relationships with organizations throughout our community.

One of the groups we volunteered with, the Ronald McDonald House of the Bluegrass, has already reached out to thank us for the work we performed.

"Thank you for volunteering at the House. The impact that you’ve made goes beyond full stomachs and a clean place to stay. You were and are a part of providing a moment of peace in the midst of difficult times. Volunteers like YOU are the foundation of our mission.

Our families loved the wonderful food and company you provided. Thank you for being so gracious and welcoming to our families. My heart overflowed with joy as I had the pleasure of watching the R. J. Corman volunteers interact with our guest. I hope that this will be the first opportunity of many for us to partner together in serving our community.

We look forward to having you volunteer again and visit us soon. We are so excited to welcome R. J. Corman into our RMHC Family!”

-Reuben Watson | Volunteer & Guest Services Manager

Rick Corman led by example through his frequent displays of generosity and his willingness to help others, no matter what their situation. He left a lasting impact on the lives he touched, our communities and on our company. RJC Gives week gives us the chance to remember his kindness and carry on the charitable reputation of the company through the work we performed.

Thanks to all who contributed. We look forward to celebrating RJC Gives week again in 2019!
