Railroad Services Non-Emergency Successfully Rebuilds Seven Miles of Track in Anderson County, South Carolina.
Pickens Railway Company, a family-owned short line railroad in Anderson County, South Carolina, asked R. J. Corman’s Railroad Services to rebuild seven miles of their tracks. After several years of operations on this line, a program of upgrades was scheduled.
R. J. Corman Railroad Services used a variety of equipment, including excavators, a mark IV tamper and ballast regulator, and rail & tie gang equipment to complete the job. The project included rehabilitating more than 11,000 cross ties and installing almost 73,000 lineal feet of rail. R. J. Corman team members also successfully overhauled four 80-foot crossings for the town of Belton, positively impacting the traffic and safety of that community. After two months of intensive work, the project was completed five days before the deadline.
R. J. Corman was pleased to receive a thank you letter from Pickens Railway Company for a job well done. This letter was a remarkable confirmation of R. J. Corman’s commitment to providing the best solutions for its customers.
All,
We just wanted to say thank you for such an incredible job rehabbing the oldest portion of our railroad. We are a fairly self-sufficient railroad, but over the last few years, because of larger tie projects, we’ve had to hire contractors to help us out. This project with R. J. Corman has, BY FAR, been the best experience.
The work was completed well and efficiently from the moment the equipment was offloaded. The guys were careful and attentive. They operated safely around both R. J. Corman and Pickens employees and equipment. The work was done quickly to meet our deadline and the result is a safe, beautiful railroad.
The customer service was incredible. From the start, y’all were quick to respond to our request for help. Throughout this whole process, R. J. Corman’s team members have been the greatest to work with. On several occasions, we were asked by the operators if we were happy with the work. We were amazed that laborers would take such personal pride in their own work and want to please the customer. We were also offered water whenever we came around. The small gestures were unexpected but deeply appreciated. Whenever we hit any snags on the job they were always treated with patience and a solution. There was constant communication and a genuine team effort. The guys felt like an extension of our Pickens work family.
We finally found our contractor. Thank you so much for doing an incredible job. We are looking forward to future projects with R. J. Corman.
President,
Pickens Railway Company
