NCDOT Awards Grant to Raleigh & Fayetteville Railroad for Infrastructure Improvements
The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) Rail Division awarded several grants to enhance rail infrastructure across the state last week. As part of this initiative, the R. J. Corman Railroad Company Raleigh & Fayetteville Railroad (RFCC) has been awarded a grant of $999,586 for rail corridor improvements in Wake and Harnett counties.
The total project cost on the RFCC amounts to $1,999,172, of which R. J. Corman will contribute with a 50% match.
The state's contribution is provided through the Freight Rail & Rail Crossing Safety Improvement (FRRCSI) program, established in 2014 to support statewide freight rail infrastructure's health, safety, and performance. This program fosters partnerships to effectively meet the growing demand for rail service.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recent funding award for the R. J. Corman Railroad Company Raleigh and Fayetteville Railroad. This investment highlights our strong partnership with the state of North Carolina and our mutual dedication to enhancing the state's transportation infrastructure.
