“We need to increase our production capacity,” said one of our clients, a plastic manufacturing company that produces a wide range of plastic products. Our client had growth potential but needed to expand its level of rail service and enhance its supply chain. The commodity? The two most used plastics in the world, polypropylene and polyethylene. These plastics in pelletized form are used in the manufacturing of a variety of products, from packaging to plastic bottles, piping systems and even many medical and laboratory items.
Leveraging our ability to think outside the box, R. J. Corman created a rail service plan that includes shuttle service, transloading, and storage in transit.
Our customer takes advantage of our tracks and storage in transit capacity to stage railcars full of material waiting to be transloaded from rail to truck when needed. Through a 3rd party contractor, our client self-serves using vacuum pneumatic trailers dedicated exclusively to plastic pellets to ensure that the quality of the product is maintained. Additionally, R. J. Corman provides our customer with lighting, security, trucks scales and rail scales to weigh the cargo.
