Fourth of July: Big Fireworks Show Back This Year
Mayor Linda Gorton said today fireworks will light up the sky downtown once more this Fourth of July, thanks to the R. J. Corman Railroad Co. and two generous sponsors, Ball Homes and Central Bank.
“We will be shooting off the fireworks that light up the sky downtown thanks to R. J. Corman Railroad Co., which is once again letting us use their property as the launch site,” Gorton said. “And thanks to Ball Homes and Central Bank, presenting sponsors for Lexington’s Fourth of July Festival. We are so thankful for these great corporate partners!”
Discussions over the past few months among the Mayor’s Office, R. J. Corman and the Downtown Lexington Partnership, which manages the Festival, have resulted in an agreement to return this year’s Fourth of July fireworks launch site to the R. J. Corman property at West Main Street and Oliver Lewis Way. The show will again be produced by world-renowned fireworks company Zambelli Fireworks.
Gorton said the Fourth of July fireworks have been launched from this site many times in the past. “This is an ideal location to launch a large fireworks display for a downtown audience. Over the past several years, the city’s fireworks display has been launched from various locations with mixed success. We’re really glad to be back at Corman.”
Ed Quinn, President and CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, said, “We are excited to work with Ball Homes, Central Bank, and the City to bring the fireworks back downtown, and provide a safe launch site that gives the citizens of the greater Lexington community the opportunity to celebrate such an important day for our nation. Our company has a strong presence in Central Kentucky, and we are honored to give support back to the community that supports us and our business every day.”
Ball Homes Executive Vice President Lisa Ball said, “We are thrilled to be a part of this celebration of our country’s freedom. Ball Homes is pleased to be a supporter of the Fourth of July Festival and to join in honoring our country’s legacy of unity and independence.”
Central Bank Chairman, President & CEO Luther Deaton, Jr. said, “Central Bank is very pleased to support the Fourth of July Festival, one of the summer’s signature events for families throughout Central Kentucky.”
The Ball Homes & Central Bank Present Lexington’s Fourth of July Festival is organized by the Downtown Lexington Partnership.
Downtown Lexington Partnership Board Chairman Steve Grossman said, “Without the support of Mayor Linda Gorton and her staff, this endeavor would not be possible. We are excited to continue our partnership with the many divisions of City government in producing meaningful and high quality events for all of Lexington.”
