R. J. Corman Celebrates Another Successful Safety Commitment Week
At R. J. Corman Railroad Group, safety is our top priority. Like every year, in 2025, all 70+ R. J. Corman locations nationwide dedicated an entire week to reinforcing our commitment to safety through our tenth annual ‘Safety Commitment Week.’ From February 3rd to 7th, each day focused on a different aspect of safety, ensuring our team members were well-informed and prepared to maintain a safe working environment.
The company’s Safety Department published articles on our employee communication platform that discuss a key safety topic:
Day 1: Pinch Points Team members were reminded to identify and avoid tasks that could create pinch points, inspect machinery and tools regularly, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Day 2: Red Zones Focused on areas surrounding working equipment and machinery that pose a risk of injury. Team members were encouraged to maintain constant communication, use proper PPE, and stay situationally aware to avoid red zone injuries.
Day 3: Slips, Trips, and Falls These are common reasons for workplace injuries. We emphasized the importance of proper footwear, housekeeping, and adequate lighting to prevent these incidents.
Day 4: Training and Compliance Training and compliance are crucial for maintaining a safe work environment. We highlighted the importance of understanding and applying safe work practices, and team members were encouraged to communicate with their supervisors and safety representatives.
Day 5: Safe Vehicle Operations The week concluded with a focus on safe vehicle operations. Team members were reminded to maintain a space cushion of safety, recognize driving hazards, and use turn signals appropriately.
Throughout the week, team members participated in various activities, including safety stand-downs, daily safety quizzes, and signing safety pledges. These activities reinforced our commitment to safety and encouraged team members to continue incorporating important safety topics into their daily work.
