R. J. Corman Railroad Company, LLC Hosts 30th Anniversary Luncheon in Woodburn, KY
WOODBURN, Ky. – R. J. Corman Railroad Company, LLC commemorated its thirtieth anniversary this week with an open house event at the R. J. Corman Distribution Center in Woodburn, Kentucky. Customers, employees and vital community partners were invited to celebrate this occasion and reflect on the company’s legacy.
In January of 1987, R. J. Corman’s founder, Rick Corman, began the Railroad Company with the acquisition of the Bardstown Line. In August of the same year, he purchased a second 100-mile short line, the Memphis Line, which operates from Clarksville, Tennessee to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Today, R. J. Corman operates 11 short lines nine states totaling approximately 905 miles of track. The company moved over 65,000 railcars in 2016 and owns over 100 locomotives and 475 railcars across their short lines.
Visitors were invited to enjoy a catered luncheon and tours of the Distribution Center throughout the duration of the event. R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC, President and CEO, Ed Quinn, took time to extend his thanks to employees, local government officials and customers who have played a vital role in the company’s success over the last thirty years. Customers in attendance included Avanti Manufacturing, Georgia Pacific, Kapstone Paper, Logan Aluminum, Nyrstar Zinc and Precision Strip. Senator Mike Wilson of Kentucky’s 32nd District, and Mike Evans, Executive Director of the Clarksville- Montgomery County Industrial Development Board, were also in attendance.
